About Us
The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments across eight Royal Parks in London: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park, and Bushy Park.
We also manage other public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our green spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with tens of millions of visitors annually.
We are recruiting for a Building Surveyor (Boundary Walls) on a full-time, two-year fixed-term contract (36 hours per week).

The Role
We’re offering a unique opportunity to work for The Royal Parks as a Boundary Walls Surveyor, leading the inspection, prioritisation and repair of approximately 17.5km of historic brick boundary walls within some of London’s most iconic parks.

As Boundary Wall Surveyor, your responsibilities include:
- Leading the inspection, defect diagnosis, and repair of historic and listed brick boundary walls in Richmond Park, Bushy Park, Greenwich Park, Brompton Cemetery, and Primrose Hill
- Developing and managing a risk-based inspection programme
- Commissioning and overseeing repair projects valued up to £150,000, ranging from small works to large-scale schemes
- Collaborating with specialist heritage contractors, Conservation Architects, and stakeholders to deliver practical and proportionate repair solutions
- Working autonomously, from initial survey and defect assessment to delivery and completion
This role suits an experienced, practical surveyor with a passion for outdoor work, independent problem-solving, and traditional heritage restoration. You’ll need expertise in building surveys, brickwork, defect diagnostics, and condition reporting, with the ability to recommend clear, practical repairs.
Formal qualifications or chartership aren’t required—but the right candidate will bring:
- Strong practical surveying experience, particularly in brick repair and conservation
- Sound judgement to manage site works independently
- Any private sector experience is welcomed

About You
We require the following:
- Experience in planning, listed building practice, and heritage conservation
- Proven contractor and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent report writing and communication
