Branch Assistant/Van Driver
Total Plumbing Swansea
Classification: Branch Assistant/Van Driver (Dual Role)
Location: Swansea, SA6 8QD, United Kingdom
Salary: National Minimum Wage (NMW)
Hours: Average 43.25 hours per week – Monday to Friday (7.30 am to 4.30 pm) + every other Saturday (8.00 am to 12.00 pm)

About the Role
We’re seeking a reliable, customer-focused Branch Assistant/Van Driver who enjoys working on the road while providing exceptional service and supporting our fast-paced team. This is a dual role, balancing responsibility between van driving and branch operations—ensuring seamless deliveries and helping customers in our Trade Sale department.
In your Van Driver capacity, you’ll be representing Total Plumbing by delivering goods to sites with professionalism, safety, and efficiency. When not on the road, you’ll support the branch by assisting customers, managing stock, and maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
As a Driver
- Safely operate company vans in full compliance with legal and company regulations.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections, reporting any defects promptly.
- Secure all loads before travel and ensure accurate delivery documentation is completed.
- Make timely deliveries to customers, obtaining signatures as proof of receipt.
- Maintain cleanness, tidiness, and roadworthiness of all vehicles.

As a Branch Assistant
- Serve customers effectively with advice and support, ensuring a positive experience.
- Prepare stock for dispatch, including coordination with inventory control.
- Assist branch team members and support with warehouse organisation.
- Load/unload vans and operate a forklift truck (certification required or mentorship offered).
- Receive incoming goods, verifying quantities, condition, and accuracy.
- Conduct stock checks and participate in periodic stocktakes.
- Uphold health & safety standards in the showroom, office, and warehouse areas.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Valid UK driving licence (minimum Category B).
- Strong customer service skills, with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- A smart, professional appearance and positive team-spirited mindset.
- Flexibility to switch between van-based and branch operations as needed.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Desirable (reasonable opportunity for training to meet these):
- Forklift truck certification (though we can provide induction where applicable).
