About the Role Lead from the front in a customer-focused, fast-paced environment. As Branch Manager in Screwfix’s City Stores, you’ll lead your team to deliver outstanding service, commercial success, and long-term growth. With a focus on partnerships, collaboration, and local outreach, you’ll champion initiatives that align with Screwfix’s vision—“the traders behind the tradespeople”. Commuting between stores is a key part of the role.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Inspire and motivate your team to deliver exceptional customer service, fostering a culture where speed, quality, and digital convenience are the norm.
- Create a valued, inclusive workplace—listening to colleagues, nurturing skills, and prioritising well-being.
- Champion multi-skilling to support team adaptability, rotating roles to build trade relationships and strengthen community ties.
Commercial Excellence & Performance
- Take full ownership of your store’s KPIs, Profit and Loss (P&L), and operational priorities, adapting quickly to peak times and evolving market conditions.
- Achieve robust financial results while ensuring strong customer service, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.
Customer & Market Leadership
- Represent your store confidently during high-profile visits, gathering insights about trends, competitor strategies, and local demands.
- Share findings with Area teams and wider Screwfix to stay competitive and aligned with broader objectives.

Requirements
Core Experience & Skills
- Proven leadership in retail/operations, with a strong track record of driving financial success.
- Flourish in a high-energy environment, balancing speed, practical problem-solving, and big-picture thinking.
- Stellar communicator—confident in coaching teams, escalating issues, and representing Screwfix at multiple levels.
- Obsessive focus on customer-first principles: results must never compromise integrity or satisfaction.
- Skilled people leader; excels at talent development, conflict resolution, and fostering a motivated workforce.
Technical Assurance
- Experience in F&B-sector and/or DIY/home improvement retail is highly desirable but not mandatory.
- Analytical mind adept at closely monitoring performance metrics and pro-actively adjusting strategies.
- Knowledge of thermal management, high-volume retail operations, and logisticsscene experienced hard working candidate ideal
Personality & Adaptability
- A self-starter who takes ownership, thrives in ambiguity, and pushes forward even under pressure.
- Naturally curious—karma about external market trends, customer behaviour, and opportunities for innovative solutions.
- Emphasis on collaborative problem-solving and shared accountability.
