Job Title: Brand Building Manager – Interior Wall Paint (IWP)

Location: Slough, UK


About the Role

We’re seeking a Brand Building Manager – Interior Wall Paint (IWP) to lead one of our most critical professional market segments and drive sustainable growth across the UK. In this role, you will:

  • Own and grow the Professional Interior Wall Paint segment as your own business.
  • Shape local vision and strategy while ensuring short- and long-term market performance.
  • Translate EMEA direction into local impact through close collaboration with sales, customer teams, and branding colleagues.

Play a crucial role in combining brand preference, innovation, and growth strategy to solidify AkzoNobel’s leadership in this segment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Professional IWP Segment:
    • Own and drive the brand and commercial strategies to deliver growth in market share, Gross Inflation Value (GIV), and volume.
  • Develop and Execute the Local Brand Plan:
    • Align the annual Interior Wall Paint strategy with business mandates, commercial priorities, and the EMEA roadmap.
  • Commercial & Operational Execution:
    • Lead activation campaigns, new product launches, and complexity reduction initiatives to optimise local performance.
  • Oversee New Product Initiatives (NPIs):
    • Manage EMEA-approved NPI projects locally, ensuring strategic execution for maximum impact.
  • Campaign & Promotion Development:
    • Localise global campaigns to meet local relevance, while developing winning local campaigns, promotions, and always-on content.
  • Budget & ROI Management:
    • Manage the Above & Below-the-Line (A&P) budget to ensure activations deliver measurable business results.
  • Content & Stakeholder Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date local product documentation for customers and stakeholders.
  • Performance Evaluation & Improvement:
    • Assess campaign and NPI performance using data to enhance ROI and future activities.
  • External & Internal Relationships:
    • Build and manage relationships with agencies, EMEA teams, sales, sales & field sales, and customer experience colleagues.
  • Customer Reach & Segmentation:
    • Ensure the right communications reach target customers to drive commercial success.
  • Assortment & Demand Planning:
    • Analyse and optimise the local product portfolio and mix, working with demand planning to support business and operational alignment.
  • Collaborate with Brand Builders:
    • Provide strategic direction to the IWP Whites and IWP Colour Brand Building Managers.

Roles & Requirements

What You Know & How You’ve Applied It

  • A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in Marketing, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Senior Brand Building / Marketing Manager in brand-building roles.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strong business analysis skills, and the ability to transform insights into actionable strategies.
  • Proven project management experience across multidisciplinary teams, with executive organisational competency and sharp attention to detail.

  • Pragmatic marketing mindset, with a keen interest in local market dynamics and customer needs.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple assignments in fast-paced environments.
  • Analytical prowess, capable of measuring performance, identifying trends, and driving improvement.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English and the local language.
