Brand Communications Executive - Rocket Yard Sport
Overview
Rocket Yard Sport is hiring a Brand Communications Executive based in Wokingham, with 3-4 days per week in the office. The salary is £30,000, rising to £35,000-£40,000 for candidates with strong golf industry experience.
This is a new role at a sport-focused creative marketing agency that exists to help brands win fans through campaigns built around sport. The business works with brands, athletes, influencers, and rights holders, with golf at the centre of what they do. The person coming into this seat will own the communication strategy across three connected disciplines: social media, influencer marketing, and experiential. That means setting the strategy, building the execution plan, and delivering it across Rocket Yard Sport's own brands and those of their clients. It is a broad, fast-moving role that suits someone who thrives on variety, moves quickly, and genuinely loves the game.
Key Responsibilities
- Build communication strategies centred on core campaigns and experiences for Rocket Yard Sport's own brands and client brands, then own the execution plan from brief to delivery
- Manage community management, content scheduling, and campaign management across owned and client social channels
- Identify the right influencer and athlete talent for brand partnerships within golf, lead contract negotiations, manage campaigns end to end, and report on performance analytics
- Plan, manage, and run experiential events, leveraging influencers and Rocket Yard Sport's own events to build brand awareness and generate leads and engagement
- Maintain and regularly update the social influencer and golf media CRM databases
- Work closely with the Performance Marketing team on campaign analytics and reporting for the Operations Director and CEO
- Collaborate with the Design Team to produce content aligned to each communication strategy
- Stay ahead of AI tools and applications that can scale communication efforts, and champion their adoption across the team
- Represent the company at events, with occasional regional and international travel required

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
Must-haves:
- Demonstrable experience across social media management, influencer marketing, and experiential marketing

- Strong understanding of how social, influencer, and experiential activity work together to drive brand awareness, leads, and sales
- Experience working directly with talent, athletes, or rights holders
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A genuine interest in golf, whether as a player or through professional experience in the industry
- UK driving licence
- Comfortable with travel, including international trips
Nice-to-haves:

What Success Looks Like
- Social media management, content scheduling, and community management are running cleanly across all owned and client channels within the first few months
- Influencer partnerships within golf are being identified, contracted, and managed end to end with clear reporting on outcomes
- Experiential campaigns are planned and executed on time and on brief, with measurable impact on brand awareness and lead generation
- The pace of the industry is matched: content and campaigns are timely, culturally relevant, and ahead of the curve rather than catching up to it
- The role is fully owned, with the person operating independently across all three disciplines without needing to be directed on priorities
Team and Culture
- A small, growing team with a creative, high-energy culture built around sport
- The working style is relaxed but commercial, informal but results-focused
- Collaboration is genuine: this role works closely with the Performance Marketing and Design teams rather than operating in isolation
- The business moves fast and expects people to invent, adapt, and do the unexpected - not wait for permission

Challenges
- This is a greenfield role, which means there is no established playbook to follow. The person coming in will be shaping how the role looks as much as filling it
- The role spans three disciplines across multiple brands and clients. Someone who wants to specialise in one area will find the breadth difficult
- The golf industry moves quickly. Staying ahead of what is happening on tour, across platforms, and in culture requires genuine proactivity. A reactive approach will show quickly
- Travel and on-site event commitments are part of the job, not the exception
Practicals
- Role type: Permanent, full-time
- Location: Wokingham, 3-4 days per week in the office
- Company: Rocket Yard Sport
- Salary: £30,000, rising to £35,000-£40,000 depending on golf industry background
- Interview process: Three stages: an initial screen, a task, and a meet-the-team session
- Start date: As soon as possible
Ideal Candidate Profile
You have solid hands-on experience across social media, influencer marketing, and experiential campaigns, and you are comfortable owning all three at once rather than sitting in one lane. You understand the golf world, whether you have worked in it, play the game, or both, and that fluency means you can move quickly with athletes, influencers, and rights holders without needing to learn the culture from scratch. You are proactive by nature, commercially minded, and the kind of person who spots what needs doing and does it without waiting to be asked. You are not looking for a narrow, specialised brief. You want real ownership, variety, and the chance to help shape something that is still being built.
