We are looking for a Breakdown & Defect Controller if you have Fleet, Automotive, Motor Claims, or Breakdown & Recovery experience and really care about customers, we would love to hear from you.

Role Overview

The Breakdown & Defect Controller is actively committed to Zenith and its Customers to provide emergency assistance by proactively managing roadside and onsite breakdowns as well as urgent defects, ensuring that such incidents are expedited in the fastest manner possible and the vehicle is returned to service without undue delay.

This is a professional role working in a very busy fleet management environment. The ideal candidate will be supported but must have the ability to self-manage whilst working under pressure. Working collaboratively and supporting the wider team and departments to ensure that the highest standard of service is achieved.

Day To Day - What You Can Expect

  • 4 on 4 off shift pattern (7am - 7pm (Days) / 7pm - 7am (Nights)
  • Accepting emergency roadside/onsite breakdowns or urgent defects on vans, trucks, and trailers.
  • Ensuring that each event is managed through to completion, by accurately logging all details and allocating in line with agreed timelines to a network of third party suppliers and manufacturers
  • Ensuring that correct suppliers are used, and that all breakdowns and urgent defects are progress chased and constant communication of work progress is made to the Customer
  • Being mindful of each Customer's service contract obligations/operating requirements and reacting appropriately within agreed guidelines

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Have experience of managing commercial/HGV emergency breakdowns from a similar breakdown & recovery or workshop / fleet management environment
  • Have excellent verbal & written communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent telephone based customer service skills
  • Have time management & organisational skills
  • Have well developed Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding working environment
