Job Description

Job Title

Breakfast & After School Club Early Years Lead

Chellaston Fields Spencer Academy, Riber Drive, Chellaston, DE73 6WS

Start Date

ASAP

Contract

Term Time Only - with the option to work during the holidays if desired at nearby sites

Hours

20 hrs per week Exception: Up to 40 hrs per week during school holidays

Pay

£14.00 per hour

Working Hours

Breakfast Club: 7:15 am - 8:45 am (Mon-Fri) After School Club: 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm (Mon-Fri) Note: Holiday clubs run from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm when open.

Note

This role involves working with children in a nursery or Reception, so a Level 3 EYFS Childcare Qualification is essential.

Qualification:

  • Level 3 EYFS Childcare qualification is mandatory.

About the Role & Requirements

A critical requirement for this role is:

  • EYFS Early Years Qualification (mandatory).

It is desirable to have:

  • Management and Team Leading Experience
  • A real passion for working with children

We seek a passionate, enthusiastic Early Years Lead looking to:

  • Develop & nurture team members
  • Inspire and support the early years learning journey
  • Lead with enthusiasm in enforcing safety protocols and operational policies

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Manage, direct, and support staff in delivering safe and effective programmes
  • Ensure team members are motivated, happy, and professionally aligned
  • Provide structure, supervision and guidance to the early years team

Child Care & Engagement:

  • Foster inclusive, fun, and engaging care for all children
  • Inspire children to explore interests through structured and unstructured activities such as games, arts & crafts, downtime, and play

Operations & Compliance:

  • Follow and enforce protocols and policies to safeguard children
  • Implement and maintain safety, operational, and early years practices

Personality & Passion:

  • Show excitement, energy, and enthusiasm in all interactions
  • Maintain a positive, warm, and genuine approach in all daily tasks
  • Create unexpected, memorable experiences for both staff and children

Conditions & Requirements

  • Essential Qualifications: Level 3 EYFS Childcare qualification.

  • DBS Check: Mandatory for background clearance.

  • Safeguarding Policy Compliance:

    • Must aid Keeping Children Safe In Education policy.
    • Application is not exempt from ROA 1974.
    • Two References required:
      • One from a most recent employer.
      • One from a childcare setting (if available).
  • Additional Documentation:

    • Must prepare necessary details for the DBS check.
