This role offers an outstanding opportunity to join our friendly, forward-thinking breast imaging team at the Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, responsible for delivering both:
- Breast Screening Service covering Dudley, Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire, and surrounding areas.
- Symptomatic Breast Service (diagnostic assessment) across our network.

Location & Travel Requirements
The main Breast Screening Unit is based at Russells Hall Hospital (Dudley), supporting a network of three assessment centres (Russells Hall, New Cross Hospital, Cannock Chase Hospital).
Static Screening Sites & Mobile Units: Requires travel across the region.

Role Summary
An exciting opportunity to join as a Band 8a Breast Clinical Specialist—an experienced, motivated role contributing to vital breast health services.
Key Responsibilities
Key duties align with the Band 8a Clinical Specialist model, including but not limited to:
- Expert Interpretation: Provide advanced assessment of mammogram, ultrasound, and stereotactic biopsies withACR level 4 OR HCPC-recognised equivalent skill.
- Core Services: Lead mammography, screening protocols, liaising with multidisciplinary teams (commeoncologist, surgeons, GPs).
- Patient Care: Deliver psychosocial support, coordinate transitional care, and impact on population-wide quality outcomes.
- Programme Management: Advise on policy ensuring service continuity in breast health implementation.
- Education: Supervise/mentor radiographers and healthcare professionals in mammography imaging, biophysics, ultrasound, biopsy procedures, and radiographic fatigue awareness.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Active registration with the HCPC as a Radiographer.
- Current competence in Mammography evidenced by a Certificate of Competence in:
- Mammography Image Acquisition
- Image Interpretation (ACR Level 4 or equivalent)
- Stereotactic Biopsies
- Breast Ultrasound
- Significant clinical experience with health survicence regulations and screening guideline adherence.
- Proficiency in effective communication to build trust with patients, families, and colleagues.
