Breast Screening Radiographer / Mammographer
Radiographer – Breast Imaging (30 hours per week)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated radiographer, specialising or looking to specialise in Breast Imaging. Formal training will be provided if you do not already hold the Post Graduate award in mammography.
About the Role
The NHS Breast Screening Programme for East Suffolk and Breast Imaging is part of the Breast Care Centre at Ipswich Hospital. You will work across various clinics including mobile units throughout East Suffolk. Essential experience for this role includes:
- The ability to travel to mobile sites
- Clinic-based and mobile screening work (sensitivity and care required)
Hours:
- 30 hours per week, typically 08:30–17:00 (Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri)
- Occasional weekend working (unpaid, voluntary basis)
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all mammography techniques, ensuring X-ray images are of the highest standard while providing a caring, sensitive service
- Travel to mobile units in East Suffolk to conduct Breast Screening Service in community outreach locations
- Contribute to research and audit activities to enhance the breast imaging service
- Support the Quality Control Programme, aligning with NHSBSP standards
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to ensure highest standards of patient care
- Provide information services for clerical staff, radiography students, and visitors
- Mentor and train trainee mammography radiographers and assistant practitioners
