Permanent

About the Role

We are supporting a leading research institute in Manchester to recruit a Breeding Team Supervisor within their Biological Resources Unit. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone experienced in mice or rodent breeding who is confident supervising teams and supporting the day-to-day running of a busy facility.

You will be a visible presence on the ground, overseeing operations, managing workloads, and making key decisions as situations arise. Working closely with researchers and internal stakeholders, you will ensure the smooth running of breeding programmes while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day running of the transgenic breeding facility and team
  • Lead and coordinate workloads, ensuring tasks are delivered efficiently and to a high standard
  • Act as a key decision-maker on the floor, resolving operational issues as they arise
  • Manage breeding colonies, maintaining accurate records and updating colony management systems
  • Carry out hands-on work including animal husbandry and procedural work (e.g. IP injections, dissections)
  • Ensure compliance with the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 and all welfare standards
  • Work collaboratively with researchers, licence holders, and internal teams
  • Support continuous improvement and maintain high operational and welfare standards
  • Participate in weekend and out-of-hours rotas where required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
