** Bricklayer & Site Operations Co-ordinator (Chamber Specialisation) – Competitive Salary (CONTRACT, Asap)**

The Joseph Gallagher Group, a family-owned business with an uncompromising focus on client satisfaction, honesty, and quality, is seeking an experienced Bricklayer specialising in sewerage chamber construction to join our operations team.

Built on the reputation of careful craftsmanship, we ensure our work positively impacts the communities and environments we serve.


### Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Site Preparation & Planning

    • Interpret construction and drainage drawings to determine the exact location, depth, and dimensions of chambers.
  • Setting Out & Construction

    • Measure work areas and set out bricks or pre-cast concrete rings for alignment.
    • Lay bricks and engineering blocks to build perfectly square, vertical, or circular chamber walls.
  • Internal Rendering & Maintenance

    • Shape and smooth internal benchings/channels using mortar and rendering techniques to ensure smooth water flow and prevent blockages.

  • Component Installation

    • Accurately install drainage channels, pipe connections, and access covers.
  • Waterproofing & Protection

    • Apply Damp-Proof Courses (DPC), water-resistant renders, and sealants to prevent groundwater infiltration.
  • Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure all work adheres to local building regulations, structural safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
    • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, including working effectively within deep excavations and using proper shoring techniques.
    • Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

### Essential Skills & Experience

  • Mathematical Precision

    • Exceptional attention to detail—chambers must be perfectly plumb and level to support heavy iron access covers without issue.
  • Material Compatibility

    • Thorough knowledge of engineering bricks, mortar ratios, and watertight masonry.

  • Physical Fitness

    • High stamina for lifting heavy blocks, working in confined spaces, and enduring demanding conditions across all weather.
  • Tool Certification

    • Proficient with trowels, spirit levels, lasers, and brick-cutting tools.
