Bricklayer Working Foreman – Lindum Group

Lindum Group is a family run business operating as a successful construction company since 1956. We provide a range of construction services from new build, refurbishment and maintenance projects to construction-related services such as plant hire, security, roofing and waste recycling. We currently have over 630 direct employees on our sites, in our workshops and company offices in Lincoln, Peterborough and York.

Our Lindum BMS (Building Maintenance Services) division specialises in:

  • New build and refurbishment construction projects up to £2m
  • Planned and reactive minor works and maintenance jobs
    • Serving the Lincoln area and surrounding regions

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Bricklayer Working Foreman to join our busy minor works team based in North Hykeham. The role involves:

  • Directly supervising minor construction projects, including:
    • Small extensions
    • Internal and external refurbishment works
  • Operating across multiple sectors:
    • Education
    • Retail
    • Commercial
    • Residential

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate on-site bricklaying activities to include:
    • Laying bricks, blocks, and masonry units
    • Constructing walls, partitions, foundations, and decorative brickwork
    • Interpreting drawings, plans, and project specifications
  • Manage a site team and on-site labour, ensuring workload efficiency and adherence to construction drawings and programme schedules.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards in line with Lindum Group policies.
  • Engage directly with clients—instructing, motivating, and coordinating site teams with the right professional attitude.
  • Travel to various site locations across the region—full driving licence is mandatory.

Key Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as a bricklayer, including:
    • Laying bricks, blocks, and masonry units to specification
    • Constructing walls, partitions, foundations, and decorative brickwork
  • Disciplined leadership: Managing teams and organising projects within programmes while adhering to construction plans.
  • Safety compliance:
    • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification preferred (with other in-date safety training advantageous).
  • Essential people skills for client interaction and team leadership.
  • Ability to travel independently—valid driving licence required.

Note: While supervisory experience is advantageous, applications from experienced bricklayers eager to advance into a supervisory role are welcome.


Work Details

  • Full-time employment (45 hours per week), working hours:
    • 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily
    • Occasional overtime may be expected.
