Your Impact

At Jacobs, you'll help shape some of the UK's most important transport and infrastructure projects. Whether it's improving the resilience of the road network, supporting rail investment, enabling sustainable travel, or helping clients reduce carbon across major programmes, your engineering expertise will directly influence how critical infrastructure is designed and delivered.

This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex structural challenges and wants to see their ideas become real-world solutions. You'll work alongside experienced engineers across multiple disciplines, contributing technical insight from early feasibility studies through to detailed design and delivery.

Your work won't be limited to producing designs. You'll help clients make better decisions, identify smarter ways of delivering projects, and contribute to engineering solutions that are safer, more sustainable, and better value for the communities that rely on them.

About The Opportunity

Join a team delivering some of the UK's most important transport and infrastructure projects across highways, rail, aviation and energy.

You'll work on a diverse portfolio of bridge and structures projects, from early-stage feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and delivery. Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you'll help solve complex structural challenges, develop practical and sustainable engineering solutions, and contribute to projects for clients including High Speed 2, National Highways, Network Rail and major local authorities.

This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your technical experience, work on projects that have a visible impact on communities, and accelerate your professional development within a highly regarded engineering team. For engineers who enjoy problem-solving, variety and meaningful project work, this role offers the chance to build expertise while helping shape the infrastructure of the future.

Here's what you'll need

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering bridge or structural engineering projects within a consultancy, contractor, local authority or infrastructure environment.
  • Strong structural analysis, engineering design and practical problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Motivation to continue developing professionally and progress towards Chartered Engineer status.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
