Are you an experienced structures professional looking for a role that combines technical leadership, operational management, and strategic asset responsibility?
We are seeking an accomplished Bridge Manager to lead the safe operation, maintenance, inspection, and performance of a major bridge and structures portfolio. This is a high-profile position requiring a strong blend of engineering expertise, people leadership, and commercial awareness.

who is looking to take ownership of a critical infrastructure asset and lead multidisciplinary teams in a complex operational environment.
The Role
As Bridge Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and performance of bridge and structures assets, ensuring the highest standards of:
- Safety
- Compliance
- Operational delivery
- Asset stewardship
You will provide technical leadership while overseeing:
- Maintenance programmes
- Inspections
- Structural assessments
- Contractor performance
- Budgets
- Stakeholder relationships

Key Responsibilities**:
- Leading multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams
- Managing:
- Bridge inspections
- Maintenance, repairs, and improvement programmes
- Acting as the technical authority for structural asset management activities
- Ensuring compliance with relevant engineering standards, legislation, and health & safety requirements
- Managing contractors, suppliers, and specialist engineering partners
- Developing and implementing long-term asset management strategies
- Managing budgets, forecasts, and commercial performance
- Building strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Leading incident responses and ensuring effective risk management across the asset portfolio
About You
We are looking for a technically strong and operationally focused leader who can balance engineering excellence with effective people and business management.
Ideal Experience
- Significant experience within bridge engineering, structural engineering, highways, rail, or major infrastructure environments
- Proven experience managing bridge or structures assets throughout their lifecycle
- Strong operational leadership and team management experience
- Knowledge of:
- Inspection
- Maintenance
- Asset management
- Structural assessment principles
- Experience managing:
- Contractors
- Budgets
- Project delivery
- Excellent stakeholder and client management skills
- A proactive and solutions-focused leadership style
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and risk management in critical infrastructure environments

Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred
- Candidates actively working towards Chartered status are encouraged to apply
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE) advantageous
Package
- Basic salary: £85,000
- Up to 20% annual performance bonus
