We don’t just believe in better. We make it happen.

Better content. Better products. And better careers.

Working in Tech, Product or Data at Sky is about building the next and the new. From broadband to broadcast, streaming to mobile, Sky Stream to Sky Glass, we never stand still. We optimise and innovate. We turn big ideas into the products, content and services millions of people love. And we do it all right here at Sky.

The OB Engineer provides technical engineering support for Sky Sports live productions across Graphics, Connectivity, Flyaway Systems, Contribution, and Event Delivery. This role is responsible for preparing, configuring, testing and supporting a wide range of broadcast and IP-based systems used at OBs for domestic/international events.

The engineer ensures the reliability and performance of graphics systems, networked contribution workflows, flyaway kits, and timing/data integrations, enabling production teams to deliver high-quality live sports coverage.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, configure and test OB graphics systems including Viz Engines, Trio, Chyron Prime, Tetra, Paint and NDI/HTML5 workflows for live events.
  • Set up and manage connectivity and contribution systems such as Peplink, TVOB switches, Nimbra, Dante/AES67, Starlink, LiveU, Makito, and Appear encoders for venue-to-Sky signal delivery.
  • Build, stage and operate flyaway kits (VFA/MCRFA) including case builds, racks, network configs, device patching, and readiness checks for domestic and international OBs.
  • Deliver engineering support on-site at events, providing rig/derig assistance, troubleshooting, and ensuring systems operate reliably across football, rugby league, darts, golf, cricket, netball, motorsport, and more.
  • Integrate Sky systems into partner OB trucks installation of IP kit, VLAN setup, encoder frames and KVM endpoints.
  • Conduct workflow testing and QA, verifying new software versions, graphics pipelines, NDI/NDI Bridge behaviour, clocks/tally data flows, and end-to-end signal paths.
  • Provide engineering diagnostics and incident resolution, including KVM, encoder, clock, AR, graphics, IP switch or network gateway faults.
  • Maintain documentation, configuration records and security hygiene, including Windows builds, agent installs, security management and technical handovers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
