Principal Architect
About the Role
Bauer Media Audio is Europe’s leading commercial audio broadcaster. You’ll join a collaborative architecture practice across Audio and the wider enterprise technology estate, partnering with product, commercial, and platform teams across multiple markets to evolve audio technology and deliver for audiences.
The Difference You Will Make
As a Principal Architect, you will drive the technical leadership of broadcast and commercial technology platforms, shaping architecture and cloud transformations. Reporting to the Director of Architecture, you’ll blend strategic oversight with hands-on involvement, acting as a trusted advisor to leadership while fostering collaboration across platforms, commercial teams, and global markets.
Your Role
You will own and direct the architecture vision for broadcast, commercial platforms, and integrations. Key responsibilities include:

- Own and maintain the architecture vision for broadcast, commercial platforms, and integrations.
- Provide oversight across major initiatives—including cloud transformation and platform renewal.
- Define and enforce architecture standards, patterns, and principles.
- Lead architectural reviews, technology assessments, and strategic decision-making.
- Drive adoption of reuse, lifecycle considerations, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Mentor and lead solution architects, ensuring high collaboration standards.
- Advise leadership, product, and commercial teams on technical challenges and trade-offs.
- Align with stakeholders from security, legal, finance, and infrastructure domains.
- Direct integration design and data flow across core systems.
- Remove ambiguity through strong solution design and guide technology adoption.
- Balance strategic vision with successful production delivery.

The Skills You Will Bring
Essential
- Senior technical leadership experience in architecture with hands-on decision-making.
- Proven track record in overseeing architecture across large-scale programmes.
- Experience in broadcast or media technology (preferred).
- Exceptional stakeholder management and technical communication skills.
- Ability to drive collaboration, innovate through persuasion, and align diverse markets collaboratively.
Desirable (but not mandatory)
- Cloud expertise (ideally AWS).
- Experience with system integration or iPaaS tooling.
- Background in media asset management.
- Familiarity with working in matrix or multi-market organisations.

Working Pattern & Location
- Hybrid schedule: On-site twice a week in office.
- Based in: Available from Peterborough, London, or Manchester.
