Automation Engineer

Location: Bristol and Southwest
Package: £35000 - £42000 DOE, company vehicle, and excellent benefits

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and proactive Automation Engineer to join our growing team. This role involves carrying out maintenance, breakdown response, fault finding, repairs, and remedial works on a range of automated systems including gates, barriers, doors, and shutters across a nationwide customer base.

This position would suit an engineer who is self-driven, organised, and takes pride in delivering a high standard of work. We are seeking someone with ambition, a positive attitude, and a desire to develop their career while contributing to the growth of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits
  • Breakdown attendance and fault diagnosis
  • Repair and remedial works on automated systems
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding
  • Ensuring systems operate safely and remain compliant with current standards
  • Accurate completion of service records and reports
  • Maintaining strong customer relationships and providing excellent service

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with automated gates, barriers, doors, shutters, or similar automation systems
  • Strong electrical competency and fault-finding ability
  • Good understanding of relevant safety standards and industry best practices
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • DHF Level 2 qualification
  • Gate Safe IOSH certification
  • Manufacturer training with leading automation providers
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and growth
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Reliable and professional
  • Well organised with excellent time management skills
  • Customer focused and commercially aware
  • Ambitious, with aspirations to progress and take on further responsibility
