## **BTEC Animal Care Tutor** – Temporary
**Job Reference:** HCC624339
**Location:** Staunton Farm, Havant
**Salary:** £13,487 – £15,036 per annum (pro-rata, equivalent to £27,780 – £30,564 full-time)
**Hours:** 21 per week
**Contract:** Temporary until **31 October 2027** (Term-time only)
**Closing Date:** 21 July 2026

### **About the Role**

Inspire the next generation of **animal care professionals** in Hampshire’s most unique learning environment. As a **BTEC Animal Care Tutor** at **Staunton Farm**, you’ll deliver engaging, hands-on education to young people within the breathtaking setting of the farm—the largest house gardens in Britain, 1,000+ acres of historic parkland, and 150,000+ annual visitors.

### ** Overview**
The **Education Team** engages over **10,000 school children** annually. This **vital role** enables you to teach **Animal Care**, fostering a passion for nature and wildlife in a unique setting and shaping future industry professionals.

### **Key Responsibilities**

#### **Teaching Duties**
- Deliver **inspiring, interactive sessions** for students, schools, and visiting groups.
- Curate engaging lessons combing theoretical BTEC Animal Care content with **practical farm-based learning**.
- Assess learner work (coursework, assignments, practicals) and provide **constructive feedback** per **BTEC standards**.
- Support teachers and group leaders to maximise learning outcomes.

Operational Management

  • coordinate sessions, activities, and resources to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align education plans with farm operations.
  • Maintenance and organisation of teaching materials and facilities.

Risk Management & Safety

  • Enforce strict health and safety policies in teaching, practicals, and animal care.
  • Conduct risk assessments, maintain safe equipment, and adhere to legal safeguarding standards.
  • Assume full accountability for your students’ well being, including additional needs.

Safeguarding Duties

  • Apply up-to-date safeguarding policies (e.g. KCSIE), reporting risks and concerns via the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Foster an inclusive environment for all learners, including those with disabilities or vulnerabilities.
  • Complete ongoing safeguarding training and recordkeeping.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Champion equality, diversity and sustainability.
  • Contribute to lesson development, equipment maintenance, and continuous service improvements.

Requirements

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong ability to engage young learners, manage groups effectively, and tailor structured yet supportive teaching sessions.
  • Exceptional communication and organisation skills, with the ability to plan, evaluate, and adapt course materials.
  • Minimum knowledge of animal care principles (formal qualifications preferred but not mandatory).
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusivity, and professional behaviour.
