About Important Looking Pirates
Important Looking Pirates (ILP) is a multiple VES and Emmy award-winning studio and have created animation and visual effects for some of the greatest storytellers. About the position
We are looking for a Senior Build Artist with skills in Modelling, Texturing and Lookdev to join the crew on a freelance or fixed term contract with various start dates. The candidate should be based in the EU.

For this role, we are looking for generalists who are proficient and have production experience in multiple areas of Build such as modelling, texturing and lookdev, both hard surface and organic. Shotsculpt experience is a bonus.
We value artists with a humble attitude who get excited about learning and teaching new things and, most importantly, who are passionate about creating spectacular, high-quality visual effects.
Your work will include:
- Production of asset work of the highest creative and technical standard.
- Modelling/Sculpting (Both Organic and Hard Surface)
- Develop and shade hard surface assets using Houdini/Arnold.
- Texture assets in Substance Painter/Designer and Mari.
- Participate in and provide feedback on workflows and standards within the build and lighting teams.

You need the following:
- Proven track record of building beautiful high-quality assets of varying types.
- Thorough knowledge of Houdini, Mari, and/or Substance Painter/Designer (equivalent experience considered).
- Passion and drive for everything VFX
- Good artistic eye, both for what looks right and how to take it to the next level
- The ability to take ownership of your work
- Great communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- A humble and helpful attitude.
The following are considered a plus:
- Experience with USD/Solaris workflows.
- Experience working with fur/groom techniques.
- Sculpting and displacement extraction experience in ZBrush and/or Mudbox.
- Environment building and layout experience.
- Experience ingesting raw photography, photogrammetry, and scan data using Reality Capture or similar.
- Working knowledge of Maya.
