Building Design Project Engineer
The Opportunity:
A building design engineer with superb project management skills is required to create, analyse, and optimise structural, mechanical, and electrical systems within this expanding engineering organisation. You will be responsible for the design and development of both new and existing building construction projects, while ensuring safety, compliance with codes, and functionality from concept to completion. The use of CAD software is essential to develop detailed plans, and site inspections is required, along with managing contractors, liaising with building control and managing project teams and budgets.
Job Responsibilities:
- With the help of contract designers, use your civil, structural and/or architectural expertise to further develop both existing and new engineering buildings throughout the immediate vicinity in order to increase production capacity in this expanding manufacturing facility.
- Analyse, calculate, and evaluate structural integrity, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.
- Dealing with subcontractors. This will include obtaining quotations and supervising employes and subcontract personnel.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to manage the project lifecycle, from proposal to final inspection.
- Ensure all designs and construction meet legal, environmental, and safety regulations.
- Develop detailed drawings, structural models, and systems designs using CAD and 3D modelling tools on own and with external engineers and architects.
- Inspect building areas to verify compliance with plans, troubleshoot issues, and recommend repairs for structural or system failures.
- Creating technical solutions and applying them to current buildings to improve their usefulness.
- Project Manage the planning and building regulation application process and the planning authorities.

Preferred Skills:
- Degree qualified or relevant experience in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
- At least 5 years working in a similar role
- Proficient with CAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience of planning and / or building regulations for industrial premises.
- Experience with the RIBA plan of work
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong knowledge of engineering science, mathematics, structural mechanics, and building systems
- Ability to analyze complex data for structural, mechanical, or electrical performance.
