BMS Service & Commissioning Engineer
About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled individual experienced in Building Management Systems (BMS), planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, and small works installation. The successful candidate will carry out planned maintenance, installation, and commissioning of small works, and support reactive call-outs across various BMS systems.
The role requires an engineer who can work independently as well as part of a team. You may also be responsible for supervising junior engineers, ensuring safe and effective working practices while contributing technical knowledge to the wider service and commissioning team.
Department: BMS
Reporting To: Operations Director
Work Split: Approximately 70% servicing and 30% small works installations across locations within a 60-mile radius of the company's office in Surrey

Responsibilities & Duties
- Carry out scheduled planned maintenance visits and servicing.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance and servicing of Building Management Systems.
- Respond promptly to service requests and troubleshoot BMS-related issues on-site.
- Perform system diagnostics, software updates, and hardware replacements as required.
- Work closely with clients to understand requirements and provide effective solutions.
- Generate service reports and maintenance documentation.
- Carry out replacement works and commissioning activities on identified defects.
- Keep up to date with industry developments and provide proactive recommendations to clients.
- Train end users on the operation and maintenance of BMS systems.
- Ensure compliance with H&S procedures and industry standards.

Experience Required
- Minimum 2–3 years' proven experience servicing and maintaining Building Management Systems.
- Experience with:
- Trend (Essential)
- Distech (Desirable)
- Tridium (Desirable)
- Strong understanding of integration protocols including:
- BACnet
- Modbus
- MBus
- LoRaWAN
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for both hardware and software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant building automation or control systems certifications are advantageous.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotas and emergency call-outs.
