Building Safety Manager

(RP0041)

Starting salary £50,696 with progression to £53,953 through annual increments subject to satisfactory service (inclusive of outer fringe allowance)

37 hours per week (hybrid working)

Permanent contract

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is looking for a Building Safety Manager. Welwyn Hatfield is the biggest landlord in the area, with 9,000 rented and 1,300 leasehold homes. We are investing £150 million in people’s homes over the next five years with a target of being net zero by 2030.

Whether your skills and experience are in Surveying, Building Safety Compliance, Repairs or Climate Change we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Council’s Building Safety and Compliance services ensuring that we meet all regulatory requirements and service plan objectives to deliver an excellent property maintenance service.
  • Manage a team of Compliance Officers within the service area, monitor their performance to ensure that high standards are met to achieve high satisfaction for our tenants. Motivate the team and encourage their development.
  • Communicate effectively to build partnerships with members of your team, stakeholders, contractors, and internal staff to identify and implement service improvements through collaborative working.

Requirements

  • Professional technical qualification in a relevant discipline or experience of working in a similar role.
  • Experience of working in a social housing setting.
  • Understanding of statutory regulations relating to engineering, construction, and buildings.
  • Experience of contract management.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • IT skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid role with the expectation of attending the office 3 days a week, depending on service needs.
