About The Role
This is a key leadership role at Wolverhampton Homes, focused on ensuring our buildings are safe, compliant, and fit for the future. As Building Safety Manager, you’ll lead on all aspects of building safety across our high-risk buildings (HRBs), ensuring compliance with the Building Safety regime and wider legislation. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll drive continuous improvement, influence strategy, and play a vital role in protecting our customers and communities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as the Named Individual to liaise with the Building Safety Regulator for our High-Risk Buildings
- Leading on compliance with building safety legislation, including preparation of Safety Cases and the Golden Thread of Information.
- Working with the Building Safety Regulator and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance and oversee the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting system.
- Ensure fire risk assessment of HRBs are suitable and sufficient and support the Council with emergency planning
- Commissioning and managing specialists to support with the creation of Safety Cases
- Ensure contractors delivering refurbishment / maintenance work in HRBs meet the required standards, especially where work may compromise fire and structural safety
- Engaging with residents to promote safety awareness and respond to concerns
- Driving improvements across safety systems, processes, and reporting

About You
We’re looking for a confident and credible leader with strong technical expertise and a passion for improving safety standards.
You’ll bring:
- Extensive experience in building safety, fire safety, within social housing or a similar environment
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Building Safety Act, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order
- Experience of managing risk in complex, high-risk environments
- Proven ability to lead and influence across a large organisation
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong decision-making skills
Relevant professional qualifications in fire safety / building safety are essential (e.g. Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety, Level 5 Diploma in Fire Engineering Design).
