Building Services Engineer – Northampton Gym

Northampton Gym | Fitness & Wellbeing

  • Contract: Permanent
  • Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Salary: Up to £36,500 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role

As a Building Services Engineer at our Northampton Gym, you’ll maintain, repair, and refine every aspect of the facility—from structural solutions to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. You’ll combine technical know-how with hands-off leadership to keep our gym and team running smoothly, effectively, and safely.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the complete maintenance and functionality of our gym, including:

  • Managing and maintaining building services infrastructure:
    • Swimming pools
    • Mechanical plant
    • Air conditioning & ventilation systems
    • Heating
    • Emergency lighting
    • Electrical systems
    • Water hygiene
    • Grounds and surrounding areas

  • Resolving all queries, issues, and defects efficiently and securely using electronic CAFM (Computer-Aided Facility Management) systems.

  • Leading by example—inspiring the team to uphold high standards and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Leading a preventative maintenance programme to prevent breakdowns and ensure long-term equipment sustainability.

  • Developing your own expertise and mentoring others to build the strongest, most capable team possible.


Requirements

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • A qualified electrician with 17th Edition (BS 7671) or equivalent certification.

  • Proven experience in maintenance, compliance, and techno-emergency roles, particularly in:

    • Emergency lighting testing
    • PAT (Portable Appliance Testing)
    • Water hygiene
    • Industrial maintenance and facility management
  • Strong knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and operational efficiency practices.
