About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Building Services Engineer to maintain, repair, and oversee all technical systems across our Northampton gym, ensuring everything runs seamlessly—from heating and ventilation to pools and emergency lighting.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in maintenance, engineering, or facilities management, who is passionate about ensuring top-tier care in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-site responsibility: Oversee and manage the entire building—including the surround electrical installations, grounds, swimming pools, mechanical plantrooms, HVAC systems, heating and ventilation plant, and refrigeration units.
- Fault-fixing and compliance: Address issues needing electrical, hydraulic, mechanical or gas expertise, including emergency lighting testing, PAT testing, water hygiene tests, and any other statutory compliance checks.
- Preventative maintenance: Implement an effective preventative maintenance programme to minimise unplanned downtime.
- Technical troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently across electrical, mechanical, air conditioning and domotic technology systems.
- Electronic workflows: Use our computerised maintenance management systems and CAFM systems to log, track and maintain equipment and spaces.
- Team leadership: Foster a culture of constant improvement and excellence through your own hands-on skills and setting high standards for the entire team.
- Safety and legal compliance: Adhere to all relevant UK legislation (including health and safety regulations) and ensure all systems meet necessary standards.
- Continuous improvement: Work to enhance energy efficiency and optimise equipment efficiency for long-term costs savings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
