Building Surveyor (12 Month Fixed Term)

Building Surveyor (National) – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

About the Role

Our construction team at RM Engineering is undergoing a transformational shift, focusing on insourcing and in-house development across our property, automation, and maintenance portfolios. As part of the Royal Mail Group, we’re launching a new, future-focused opportunity for a hands-on Building Surveyor to support our drive towards safe, efficient, and innovative buildings nationwide.

This role is ideal for a problem solver who thrives on-site, delivering high-quality construction solutions. If you enjoy travel, technical challenges, and working with multidisciplinary teams, this position offers real impact and growth.

Core Responsibilities

As the Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

Technical & Surveying duties

  • Conducting detailed building fabric surveys and condition assessments
  • Performing intrusive investigations (e.g., decay, damp, structural issues)
  • Preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, and detailed scopes of work

Design & Compliance support

  • Assisting in fabric design development, including layouts, detailing, and compliance reviews
  • Ensuring alignment with performance standards, Building Regulations, and fire safety measures
  • Managing building condition data and asset lifecycle assessments, making investment recommendations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
