Company Description
Border Consultancy Chartered Surveyors is a niche property firm providing nationwide commercial property advice across asset management, acquisitions, property management, specialist building consultancy, dilapidations, and project management.
The team supports corporate, institutional, and 3rd sector clients seeking to develop, refurbish, or acquire/dispose of commercial premises.
With significant in-house and client-side experience, the senior team understands how property decisions impact business performance. The firm is known for its personalised approach, guiding clients from strategy and planning through development and ongoing management of commercial real estate.
Role Description
This full-time Building Surveyor role is based in Gloucester, combining office, site, and some work-from-home flexibility. The Building Surveyor will carry out building inspections and condition surveys, prepare technical reports, and advise clients on building performance, repair, and maintenance.

Daily responsibilities include:

- Managing dilapidations assessments
- Assisting with feasibility studies for new or refurbished premises
- Supporting contract management throughout project delivery
The role involves liaising with clients, contractors, and other professionals, ensuring projects meet technical standards, regulatory requirements, and agreed budgets and timelines. The Building Surveyor will also contribute to the firm’s specialist consultancy services, helping to develop tailored solutions for a diverse commercial client base.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in Building Surveying, including experience with commercial properties and relevant regulations.
- Proficiency in conducting Condition Surveys and producing clear, accurate inspection reports.
- Ability to undertake Feasibility Studies, including assessing options, risks, and costs for property development or improvement.
- Experience in Contract Management, overseeing works, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Knowledge and practical experience of Dilapidations, including preparation of schedules and negotiation between parties.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., degree in Building Surveying or related discipline; MRICS or working toward chartered status preferred).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and provide clear advice to clients.
- Competence with standard IT tools and surveying-related software; full UK driving licence or ability to travel to sites as required.
