Development Building Surveyor
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
Salary: Competitive, Based On Experience

The Opportunity
We are supporting our Commercial Surveying & Design in the recruitment of a Development Building Surveyor to join their growing team in Birmingham.
Part of Sedgwick International, the business comprises Chartered Building Surveyors, Technicians, and RIBA Architects delivering specialist surveying and design services across the commercial property sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Building Surveyor looking to develop their career within a respected organisation that offers strong professional development, exposure to high-value projects, and genuine progression opportunities.
The Role
You will take ownership of projects involving the reinstatement of commercial properties following damage, managing schemes ranging from £50,000 to £5 million in value. Depending on the size and complexity of a project, you will either work independently or lead a multidisciplinary team consisting of Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, and Architects.

Key responsibilities include:
- Producing technical reports and undertaking defect diagnosis
- Preparing Schedules of Works and tender documentation
- Contract administration and project management
- Managing project delivery across time, cost, and quality objectives
- Building strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
- Supporting clients throughout the reinstatement process with professionalism and empathy
- Managing your own caseload and prioritising workloads effectively
- Producing high-quality reports within required timescales
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor status, or be working towards chartership with relevant industry experience
- A building-related degree
- A full UK driving licence
- Strong knowledge of building construction and relevant legislation
- Experience preparing schedules of work and administering building contracts
- Proven ability to manage projects effectively
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive and organised approach to workload management
- The ability to remain composed and make decisions under pressure
- Strong team-working skills alongside the confidence to work independently
