Building Surveyor (Temporary)
Salary: £25 – £30 per hour Type: Full Time Region: UK – London Location: Islington, London Contract: Temporary Working Pattern: Office and site-based (no hybrid working)
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a local authority in North London on a temporary basis.
This role supports the delivery of planned and cyclical maintenance programmes across residential blocks, with a focus on undertaking condition surveys and producing accurate repair specifications.

This is a hands-on position combining site-based inspections with technical reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out external condition surveys on residential properties
- Identifying and recording building defects and areas requiring repair
- Taking photographs and accurately documenting survey findings
- Preparing repair specifications using the Schedule of Rates
- Producing clear and detailed reports to support planned maintenance works
- Managing site inspections and reporting outputs independently
About You
- Previous experience as a Building Surveyor, ideally within social housing or a local authority setting
- Experience carrying out condition surveys and preparing repair specifications
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Schedule of Rates
- Excellent report writing skills with strong attention to detail
- Confident working independently on site

Additional Information
- £25 to £30 per hour, PAYE
- Temporary contract only
- Based in North London with site visits within walking distance (approx. 10 minutes walk)
- Office and site-based (no hybrid working)
