The Role
Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for your next challenge?
We're seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Building Surveyor to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving our housing stock, delivering high-quality surveying services, and supporting our commitment to providing safe, sustainable homes for our customers.
In this role, you will:
- Carry out a range of property inspections, including stock condition, damp and mould, condensation, structural, and defect surveys.
- Undertake Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), retrofit assessments, and Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments.
- Investigate disrepair claims and support the management of associated legal processes.
- Provide expert technical advice on landlord approvals, alterations, and insurance-related claims.
- Diagnose building defects and prepare specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation for remedial projects.
- Analyse property data and utilise software systems to support investment planning, asset management, and our Net Zero Carbon objectives.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, keeping them informed throughout the surveying and repair process.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice standards.

To succeed, you must be an experienced Building Surveyor with strong technical knowledge of building construction, defects, and property maintenance. You'll have experience of property asset data and investment planning, along with excellent analytical, communication, and customer service skills.
An HNC/HND in Building Surveying, Building Studies, Construction, or equivalent experience is required. You will be willing to work towards Domestic Energy Assessor and Retrofit Assessor qualifications and must hold a full UK driving licence. You will be organised, proactive, and capable of managing a varied workload independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

To demonstrate our commitment to you, we have developed a sector-leading total rewards package:
- £44,358 per annum + £2,200 car allowance p/a
- Permanent contract, Full-time
- Group stakeholder pension plan (Eastlight will double, up to 5% of the employee’s contribution - Employee 5% + Eastlight 10% = Total 15%)
- 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Annual wellbeing grant of £200 per annum – Subject to eligibility
- Trailblazing family leave (Maternity, Paternity and Adoption – 12 weeks full pay/6 weeks half pay) – Subject to eligibility
