Building Surveyor

Location: Shenfield, Essex
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Education Consultancy Services Ltd is seeking an experienced and motivated Building Surveyor to join our growing team.

Working across both the education and commercial sectors, you will play a key role in delivering building surveys, project management, contract administration, and professional consultancy services. You will support schools, academies, and commercial clients with condition improvement programmes, capital investment projects, and property-related advice. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, helping clients enhance, maintain, and maximise the value of their built assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake condition surveys, measured surveys, and building inspections
  • Prepare specifications, schedules of work, and technical reports
  • Support the preparation and management of Department for Education funding applications
  • Act as Contract Administrator and/or Employer's Agent on a range of projects
  • Manage projects from inception through to completion
  • Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, legislation, and industry best practice

About You

  • A relevant degree or strong working experience
  • Experience working with AutoCAD
  • Working towards MRICS chartership, with a commitment to professional development
  • Experience within the education sector would be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of JCT contracts, building regulations, and construction processes
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Well organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Full UK driving licence
