Building Surveyor

The role of Building Surveyor requires expertise in property assessments, maintenance planning, and project management to ensure buildings meet safety and quality standards. Based in Alderley Edge, with regular site visits this position offers a permanent opportunity for a professional with at least five years surveying experience, seeking to contribute to the property and housing industry.

Description

The Building Surveyor will:

  • Conduct property inspections to assess condition and compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare detailed reports and maintenance schedules for buildings.
  • Manage refurbishment and renovation projects, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  • Provide technical advice on building structures and materials.
  • Coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Monitor building performance and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained across all projects.
  • Keep accurate records of all surveys, inspections, and project progress.

Profile

A successful Building Surveyor should have:

  • Good understanding of construction methods, building technology, Building Regulations and construction legislation.
  • Experience within a building surveying or construction environment, including maintenance projects (desirable).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and survey information.
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Professional, client-focused approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with contract administration processes and project delivery.
  • Experience using AutoCAD (desirable), surveying software and Microsoft Office.
  • A Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • RICS membership/working towards chartership and a CSCS Card being advantageous.
