Join a well-established Housing Association as Building Surveyor in their Property Services team.

Location: London

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + Benefits

This is an excellent opportunity for a Surveyor looking to work across a varied residential portfolio, delivering repairs, planned maintenance, and property improvement works, while ensuring homes remain safe, compliant, and well maintained.

Core focus of the role

As Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing property inspections, diagnosing building defects, specifying works, and overseeing contractors across responsive repairs and planned maintenance projects.

You will play a key role in maintaining housing stock, improving property standards, and ensuring all works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Day-to-day of the role

Undertake property inspections and condition surveys across the housing stock Diagnose building defects and prepare technical specifications and schedules of work Manage responsive repairs, void works, and planned maintenance projects Oversee contractors on site, ensuring quality, compliance, and value for money Manage disrepair cases, insurance works, and complex repairs Support delivery of planned works programmes such as kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, and external works Ensure compliance with health and safety and housing regulations Monitor contractor performance, costs, and programme delivery Provide technical advice and reports to internal teams and residents

Skills you need

Experience working as a Building Surveyor within housing, local authority, or property services Strong knowledge of building construction, defects diagnosis, and repairs Experience managing contractors and planned maintenance programmes Knowledge of disrepair legislation and housing standards Ability to manage budgets and deliver value for money Full UK driving licence (desirable depending on patch)

Qualifications (desirable)

Degree or HNC/HND in Building Surveying or Construction CIOB / RICS or working towards professional membership
