Bus Driver (Trainee and Qualified)

Location: Bolton

Salary:

  • Trainee: £12.71–£17.58 per hour
  • After completion of training or with a PCV licence, salary increases to:
    • Monday–Friday: £15.51 (up to £17.58 for existing/CV holders)
    • Saturday: £16.87
    • Sunday: £17.58

About Go North West

Go North West emerged from the acquisition of a Queens Road bus depot (once operated by Go:Ahead Group) in Manchester on 2nd June 2019. Since then, they’ve embedded themselves in Greater Manchester and Salford, maintaining a network of routes—including the high-traffic bus route 135, one of Manchester’s busiest.

Training and assessments take place at the Queens Road Depot in Manchester.

Rates of Pay (Post-Training)

  • Monday–Friday:
    • Starting: £12.71
    • After 12 months/PCV licence: £15.51 (up to £17.58 for current holders)
  • Saturday: £13.62 (up to £16.87 if qualified)
  • Sunday: £14.86 (up to £17.58 for qualified)

Requirements

✅ Advance Criteria

  • Full UK driver’s licence (≤3 points).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • PCV licence acquisition through Go NW’s academy is mandatory for all trainees.

✅ Essential Skills

  • Experience (preferably as a bus/driver; ** elnöövicers welcome**).
  • Passion for customer service—energy and charm to engage diverse passengers.
  • Excellent communication and team player ethos.
