Salary: £13,552 per annum Hours: Part-time (25 hours per week), term time only Contract: Permanent, required immediately Reference: 5214
Ipswich School seeks an experienced Bus Driver to join their small team of minibus drivers. You will transport pupils to and from school daily, support school trips or events, and assist with airport arrangements for boarding students during term time and holiday periods. Optional staff training and development activities will also be included during staff INSET days.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve:
- Safely transporting Senior and Prep School pupils via designated school bus routes daily (weekdays during term time), following set schedules.
- Adhering to daily driving limits and Ipswich School Transport Policy.
- Supervising pupils on the bus and reporting any pastoral concerns to the Senior Deputy Head (Pastoral).
- Ensuring the vehicle is used only by authorised individuals.
- Conducting a daily walkaround safety check before operating the minibus.
- Responsible for minor vehicle maintenance, cleaning, fuelling (including refuelling, ad-blue monitoring, bulb replacements).
- Collecting and handing over vehicles to the maintenance provider as needed.
- Maintaining regular contact with the Transport Manager.
- Completing periodic training as required by the school.

Requirements
• Essential:
- Current, valid full driving licence with D1 category.
- Ability to foster strong relationships with pupils and staff.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a flexible approach.
- Ability to work across alternative routes as needed.
• Preferred:
- Prior experience driving school minibuses with cohesive pupil groups.
Hours and Compensation

25 hours per week (split into 15 routine hours and a further 10 hours for other duties).

Expected assignment: IP14 minibus route (Ipswich Railway Station → Ipswich School, Tuesdays–Fridays).

Daily schedule: Two shifts of 2.5 hours each (morning and afternoon).
Term-time schedule:
- Monday–Friday: 06.30–10.30 (12.5 hours)
- Monday–Friday: 15.30–18.30 (12.5 hours)
