Driver Role – Stagecoach Sunderland Depot
About the Role
Join one of the UK’s leading transport operators, Stagecoach, and become part of a forward-thinking, sustainable team. Our Sunderland depot is seeking experienced, friendly, and safety-conscious drivers to join our team of over 200 drivers, operating a modern fleet of 75 buses across Sunderland and surrounding areas.
You’ll play a vital role in connecting communities, enabling passengers to reach work, school, family, and friends easily. As the face of Stagecoach, you’ll deliver exceptional customer service, create welcoming environments, and make a real difference in people’s daily lives.
Starting Salary & Career Growth
- Salary post-training (if licence held for 12+ months): £15.60/hour (based on 37-hour week, equating to £30,014 per annum)
- Training pay rate: £13.00/hour
- Ongoing training with CPC renewal costs covered
- Progression opportunities into roles such as Inspector, Controller, Instructor, and leadership positions
- Permanent, stable career with a market-leading, future-focused organisation

Responsibilities
- Drive safely and confidently across Sunderland and surrounding areas
- Ensure exceptional customer experiences for all passengers, including those who rely on transport most
- Provide top-notch service—friendly yet professional interactions
- Support warm, welcoming environments where passengers feel respected and secure
- Work flexible shifts, including early morning, evening, and weekend duties
- Assess customer needs, offer advice, and guide passengers effectively
Requirements
- 18+ years old
- Valid PCV driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
- Passionate about customer service—delivery of a friendly, positive demeanour
- Patient, safe, and courteous driving approach
- Willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative team
