About the Role
The #SZCJobsBus/HGV Mechanic/Technician role supports the Sizewell C project in hands-on technical maintenance and repairs for a specialised Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) fleet. This position contributes to ensuring high standards of compliance, reliability, and operational excellence.
Main Duties
This role focuses on maintaining and repairing vehicles across the fleet, enforcing strict health, safety, and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include:

MOT Preparation:
- Leading MOT preparation checks, vehicle inspections, and maintenance to guarantee fleet compliance.

Diagnostics & Maintenance:
- Conducting heavy-vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.
- Assessing and addressing faults to uphold high service standards.

Stock & Compliance:
- Adhering to procedures for equipment, parts, and stock control within the workshop framework.
- Watching for vehicle workload demands and fulfilling these efficiently.

Engineering & Collaboration:
- Promoting a strong working relationship between engineering and operations to achieve strategic objectives.
- Consistently proactive in fulfilling vehicle needs and avoiding downtime.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (PCV preference).
- Must hold a full (manual) driving licence (holding Category D is desirable).
Key Skills & Specific Experience
- At least two years of recent post-training experience in heavy vehicle engineering. Your preferred focus should be PCVs (passenger vehicles).
- Technical aptitude and attention to quality—ensuring compliance and risk reduction.
- A pragmatic, flexible attitude towards solving urgent vehicle-related issues.
- Versatility in staff expectations—with a perspective towards potential work patterns beyond standard hours.

Desirable Qualities
These provide added strengths for the role:
- Experience in PCV electrical systems and practical industry expertise.
- Effective electrical/engine troubleshooting skills.
- IRTEC license (Inspection / Repair/Maintenance Technician).
- Familiarity with key concepts or norms within the transport sector.
