Summary

Summary of the Business Accountant role

As the Business Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the site’s financial data is accurate, complete and maintained in line with group reporting deadlines. You will take day-to-day ownership of maintaining robust and reliable financial information, including the preparation and processing of monthly accruals and prepayments, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all reporting outputs.

Working closely with operational and finance stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting business performance, while proactively identifying opportunities to improve existing systems and processes.

This role is best suited to a candidate with proven experience in a similar accounting or finance role, with strong technical knowledge and attention to detail. Candidates who are part-qualified or currently studying towards an AAT or CIMA qualification are encouraged to apply, and are open to offer some flexibility in working patterns to support ongoing study and professional development.

Your Responsibilities

  • Process monthly accruals and prepayments
  • Produce monthly cost centre report for the Dudley site and support cost centre owners in understanding their actual spend through to creating their forecasts and budget
  • Monthly capex and stock reporting
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, processes, and timetables set by Group.
  • Sales invoicing and administration
  • Update SAP product costings
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis to provide financial insight and decision support to colleagues in Finance, Commercial, Operations and Supply Chain

Requirements For The Role

  • Qualified or studying AAT/CIMA preferred
  • Ability to promote a culture of devolved budgetary control, enhanced financial and commercial awareness, continuous improvement and cost control
  • Experience within a similar role
  • Able to identify opportunities for improvement to existing systems and methods to control costs
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
