The Directors Helpline is a trusted, impartial business consultancy supporting SME directors across the UK through financial and operational challenges. With over 15 years' experience and more than 20,000 directors helped, we provide clear, confidential advice on issues ranging from HMRC arrears and Bounce Back Loan repayments to restructuring.

Requirements

  • GCSE in English (grade 4)
  • GCSE in Maths (grade 4)
  • Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation (e.g., MS Office or equivalent)
  • Ability to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem
  • Ability to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required
  • Proactivity and good judgement
  • Ability to make effective decisions based on sound reasoning
  • Ability to deal with challenges in a mature way
  • Seek advice of more experienced team members when appropriate
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships within their own team and across the organisation
  • Ability to influence and challenge appropriately
  • Demonstrate good communication skills (face-to-face, telephone, written, digital)
  • Ability to use the most appropriate channels to communicate effectively
  • Agility and confidence in communications, carrying authority appropriately
  • Understand and apply social media solutions appropriately
  • Ability to answer questions from inside and outside of the organisation

  • Experience in an office-based, communication-focused role (preferred)
  • Excellent organisational, multitasking, and time-management skills (preferred)
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems (preferred)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment (preferred)
  • Experience in a senior administrative support role (preferred)
  • Previous involvement in sales administration, business support, or consultancy (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals
  • Make recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management
  • Draft correspondence and write reports
  • Review others' work
  • Maintain records and files, handle confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures
  • Coach others in the processes required to complete these tasks
  • Become a role model to peers and team members, developing coaching skills as they gain area knowledge
  • Represent the organisation or department when answering questions from inside and outside of the organisation
  • Share administrative best-practice across the organisation (e.g., coach others to perform tasks correctly)
  • Act as a key point of contact for addressing issues
  • Set a positive example for others in the workplace
  • Show understanding of implications beyond the immediate environment (e.g., impact on clients, suppliers, other parts of the organisation)
