Consultant Prison Officer (Administrative Support) Role

Location: HM Prison Hull, HU9 5LS


Overview

Job Title: Consultant Prison Officer (Administrative Support)

About the Role

This non-operational role provides administrative support to managers and front-line staff by delivering transactional work in a specific operational area.

Job holders will:

  • Demonstrate competence in their area of work.
  • Thorough training will be provided in their specialism once in post.

Note: Despite this being a supportive/maintenance non-managerial position, there may be occasional contact with prisoners pending their specific area of work.

There are no line management responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

Typical tasks associated with this role include:

  • Organising, producing and maintaining accurate records relevant to the area of work.
  • Acting as the central communication point for the team.
    • Prioritising and distributing internal/external correspondence to relevant personnel or departments.
  • Completing required monitoring returns for the area of work.
  • Inputting and processing finance requisitions within specified databases.
  • Co-ordinating awareness sessions/events pertinent to the work area.
  • Preparing paperwork for manager approval, conducting preliminary verifications as needed.
  • Corresponding with external stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information.
  • Maintaining, verifying and addressing establishment databases, manual filing systems and records, delivering reports per agreed deadlines.
  • Collating information related to Service Delivery Indicators (SDIs).
  • Physically serving as meeting secretary (e.g., preparing agendas, taking minutes and following up on actions).

Qualifications/Accreditation

This role is open to:

  • Citizens of the UK, the Republic of Ireland or Commonwealth countries with valid UK work rights.
  • Nationals from EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland & Liechtenstein with either a pre-settled/settled status status or an approved application to obtain one under the European Union Settlement Scheme (EUSS).

Hours & Appointment Conditions

  • Working Week: 37 hours (standard contract hours).
  • Leave Entitlements:
    • Annual holiday leave
