Business Advisor - Organisation Development Sector Specialist

Organisational Development (OD) Specialist Location: Manchester Salary: Up to £43,260 per annum (annual) Contract: Permanent / Full-time

###About the Role Shape the future of leadership and workforce transformation across Greater Manchester.

We’re seeking a highly credible Organisational Development (OD) Specialist to work with businesses within the Financial, Professional & Business Services (FPBS) sector, helping them unlock growth by empowering their workforce. This is a dynamic, client-facing strategic role where you will collaborate with senior leaders across diverse organisations—from scaling SMEs to complex enterprises—to design and implement impactful people and organisational strategies.

Your impact will drive productivity, performance, and inclusive growth across Greater Manchester’s core sectors.

###Core Purpose The role focuses on delivering high-quality organisational development for Greater Manchester business leaders. Your core objectives include:

  • Assessing workforce and organisational challenges
  • Identifying opportunities for enhancement
  • Developing tailored action plans that build workforce capabilities while supporting business expansion and productivity—primarily in the Financial, Professional & Business Services (FPBS) sector.

Since the FPBS sector is strategically crucial to Greater Manchester’s economy, you must demonstrate a deep understanding of the region’s business landscape and framework policies, such as:

  • Greater Manchester Strategy (GMS) (with emphasis on productivity, innovation, skills, and inclusive growth).
  • GM Good Growth Fund (priorities, eligible sectors, and how workforce development boosts company performance).
  • Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) (particularly how leadership capability and organisational culture advance sector-specific skill demands).

Your work will directly contribute to achieving Greater Manchester’s ambitions for regional success.

###Key Responsibilities As a strategic OD advisor, you will:

  • Differentiate business challenges: Conduct in-depth assessments and diagnostics (culture, workforce, and capability analysis).
  • Execute OD solutions: Design and deliver high-impact strategies across the full employee lifecycle—from workforce planning and talent development to performance frameworks, culture, engagement, and retention.
  • Support organisational change: Assist businesses with restructuring, organisation design, operating models, and change management.
  • Strengthen leadership: Develop leadership capability, performance frameworks, and workforce development strategies.
  • Advise on talent attraction: Recommend robust employer value propositions to attract and retain talent in a competitive FPBS market.
  • Facilitate effective learning: Lead workshops, masterclasses, and cohort-based programmes to accelerate skills growth.
  • Measure impact: Adopt data-driven analysis to demonstrate productivity and growth results for each client within the portfolio.
  • Build partnerships: Collaborate with internal specialists and external stakeholders to offer integrated and high-quality business support.
  • Incorporate technology: Utilise data insights, tools, and emerging advancements (e.g., AI) to create strategic and adaptable OD solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
