The Business Analyst

The Business Analyst is a key driver in the successful delivery of business initiatives by bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. They analyze, interpret, and document requirements, ensuring they are clear, comprehensive, and aligned with organizational goals. The Business Analyst collaborates closely with stakeholders across various departments to identify opportunities for improvement, optimize processes, and support strategic decision-making. An important aspect of the role involves writing, reviewing, and updating process documentation to ensure it reflects current practices and supports ongoing operational efficiency. Their contribution is essential in preventing miscommunications, reducing project risks, and ensuring solutions meet business needs effectively. The role requires a proactive approach to understanding complex business environments and translating that understanding into actionable insights that enable the organization to achieve its objectives efficiently.

What You'll Be Doing

Individual Responsibilities/Tasks/Key Result Areas

  • Analyze and document existing operational processes across multiple departments or business units.
  • Gather and prioritize business requirements from stakeholders involved in large operations.
  • Develop comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction or process improvement.
  • Collaborate with operations, IT, and other relevant teams to design and implement solutions.
  • Support change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new processes or systems.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of implemented changes, providing ongoing analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements related to large operations.

Effective Communication & Relationship Management

  • Ensure that KPIs are measured, monitored, and shared with members of the team, to assist with performance management and engagement in company performance.
  • Develop open channels of communication to enable constructive debate and collaboration, eliciting the ideas and opinions of the team.
  • Build and maintain effective cross-department relationships.

Business Management

  • Understand the company’s strategy/vision and what it means for your role/team.
  • Manage financial/budgeting procedures as required according to the local market.
  • Ensure that the appropriate risk and controls procedures are in place to ensure compliance with the local regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in activities to support business development and client centricity, according to the requirements of the local market.

What You'll Bring

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with insurance operations, including claims processing, policy administration, and risk management. Understanding regulatory requirements and compliance standards specific to the insurance industry.
  • Process Mapping Expertise: Proficiency in using process modeling and mapping tools such as Visio, Bizagi, Lucidchart, or similar software to visually document and analyze complex insurance workflows.
  • Insurance-Specific Systems: Experience working with insurance software platforms (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, SAP for insurance, or other claims and policy management systems) beneficial but not essential.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of industry regulations such as GDPR, Solvency II, AML, and other relevant legal frameworks impacting insurance operations.
  • Data Analysis & Visualization: Ability to interpret large datasets related to insurance claims, policies, and customer data, and to create insightful visualizations for stakeholders.
  • Risk and Control Assessment: Skills in identifying process risks within insurance workflows and designing controls to mitigate operational or compliance risks.
  • Change Management in Insurance Context: Experience supporting large-scale process changes within insurance organizations, ensuring minimal disruption and compliance with industry standards.
