Outside IR35, UK Wide Flexibility, Business Analyst, Hybrid, Information Security, Data Security, Data Discovery, Purview, Microsoft Technologies, DLP, AIP

My client is looking for an immediately available and highly capable Contract Business Analyst with deep experience in data discovery, Microsoft Purview, and data/information security initiatives. You will be joining a fast‑paced project team driving a full data discovery programme across several critical business areas.

This role suits someone who thrives in complex environments, can quickly understand data landscapes, and is confident mapping processes, identifying risks, and shaping actionable plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support end‑to‑end data discovery activities across multiple business domains.
  • Work closely with technical and business stakeholders to understand data flows, storage locations, and security requirements.
  • Map current‑state processes and data journeys, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to the migration and standardisation of data across systems and platforms.
  • Provide clear documentation, insights, and recommendations to support decision‑making.
  • Work at pace within a small project team, ensuring milestones are met and deliverables are high quality.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong, hands‑on data discovery experience in complex organisations.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Purview (data classification, governance, lineage, etc.).
  • Background in Data Security / Information Security / Cyber Security projects.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a small, focused project team.
  • Experience delivering within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrable experience mapping processes and data flows end‑to‑end.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical findings into business‑friendly insights.
  • DLP (Data Loss Prevention)
  • AIP (Azure Information Protection)
  • Experience supporting or preparing for data migration programmes
  • Understanding of cloud‑based collaboration platforms (OneDrive, SharePoint)
