Role Overview
We are looking for a strong Investigative Business Analyst to analyse existing systems, processes, and data pipelines to understand the current (“as-is”) landscape and define clear, structured requirements for future improvements.
This role requires strong analytical capability, stakeholder engagement skills, and experience working in Agile digital environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct investigative analysis into current systems, processes, and data pipelines to understand the “as-is” state
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and hidden dependencies across systems and workflows
- Work closely with stakeholders to validate requirements and align to business priorities
- Elicit, analyse, and document requirements including user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and process flows
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions with business and technical teams
- Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritise backlogs and refine requirements
- Produce structured documentation to support delivery, governance, and decision-making
- Ensure compliance with data protection and governance standards (e.g., GDPR, DPIA, RBAC)
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validate business outcomes
- Continuously identify opportunities to simplify and improve processes

Key Skills & Experience
- Strong investigative and analytical skills with the ability to deep-dive into complex environments
- Experience documenting as-is and to-be processes, data flows, and system dependencies
- Proven Agile business analysis experience, including writing user stories and acceptance criteria
- Experience working on data-driven projects alongside data engineering or analytics teams
- Prior experience in the public sector digital domain (highly desirable)
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information
