Business Analyst
Business Analyst (12-Month Fixed Term) – SOSE (South of Scotland Enterprise)
Proactively improve business processes that drive growth and national economic development.
About the Role
As a Business Analyst on our IT team, you’ll act as a key liaison between business teams and digital delivery, strengthening process understanding, documentation, and improvement across SOSE (South of Scotland Enterprise).
This fixed-term, full-time role calls for exceptional analytical skills, stakeholder management, and experience in transforming complex systems and workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Document and map end-to-end business processes, from current state ("As-Is") to improved future state ("To-Be"), ensuring clarity and consistency
- Identify inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities by collaborating with teams to gather requirements and define solutions
- Support digital delivery initiatives by ensuring processes align with organisational needs and systemic capabilities
- Present structured, evidence-based insights that inform decision-making and drive strategic improvements
- Facilitate workshops to foster cross-team collaboration, gather practical intelligence, and refine processes
- Collaborate with digital teams to embed change initiatives and sustain long-term process improvements

What We’re Looking For
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst (or in a closely related role), with a strong track record in process mapping and transformation
- Hands-on experience in process analysis, including the ability to:
- Design gap analyses
- Apply structured methodologies like BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) or Lean
- Familiarity with process documentation tools (e.g., Miro, Lucidchart) and ability to use digital systems effectively
- Background in public sector, complex organisations, or CRM systems – a strong advantage
- Stakeholder intuition: ease in managing relationships at all organisational levels, balancing perspectives
- Fast learner, analytical mind with meticulous attention to detail and a collaborative approach in dynamic environments
Additional Strengths:
- Prior understanding of economy-enhancing strategies (e.g., small business support, regional development)
- Experience with agile or digital transformation frameworks
- Comfort with hybrid working models (office/based)
