We are currently recruiting for an experienced professional to join the HSBC Asset Management Alternatives team on a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract posting. This role focuses on designing, documenting, and embedding scalable operating models, controls, and third-party service arrangements to enable new investment capabilities and strengthen existing ones.
About the Team
The HSBC Asset Management Alternatives team is expanding its global operating model to support a rapidly growing platform. This includes capabilities across:
- Private markets
- Hedge funds
- Real assets
- Infrastructure
- Private debt
The Business Analyst – Operations Design & Delivery will partner with global stakeholders to develop solutions that enhance our operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
As a Business Analyst at HSBC, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the design and implementation of operating models for new and expanding Alternatives capabilities, including portfolio/fund structures across asset classes, countries, and entities.
- Assisting with updates to existing models to reflect new services, processes, controls, and regulatory expectations.
- Contributing to a global operating framework, including complexity and risk assessments, and ensuring end-to-end documentation aligns with HSBC standards.
- Facilitating end-to-end process mapping collaboratively with:
- Functional Architecture
- 1st Line of Defence Risk & Controls
- 2nd Line of Defence
- Ensuring appropriate reviews and assurance are embedded.
- Supporting third-party provider relationships, including:
- Initial set-up and ongoing management of providers such as:
- Fund administrators
- Loan services
- Transfer agents
- Custodians
- Cash management solutions
- Initial set-up and ongoing management of providers such as:
- Supporting inorganic initiatives and cross-border transactions, including:
- Operational due diligence
- Integration planning
- Impact/cost assessment
- Risk & issues management

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should ideally have:
- Essential:
- Experience in investment operations/middle office within asset management (or transferable domains) with exposure to alternative investments.
- Real Assets/Private Credit operating models and fund structures experience is desirable.
- Strong project management, organisational, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of accurate delivery against deadlines.
- Demonstrated capability in operational risk management in a dynamic environment, aligned with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience working with outsourced service providers and assessing operational/technology offerings.
- A commercially minded, client-centric approach, able to translate complex information into practical solutions.
- Strong clear and confident communication skills, capable of professional engagement across all levels, including with clients, investors, and cross-geographical colleagues.
