About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Business Analyst (Senior Consultant) to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise gained from working within large, complex organizations to deliver impactful solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including product managers, software developers, user researchers, designers, and other specialists—to address challenging problems and develop innovative solutions for our clients. Your primary responsibility will be to build strong relationships with client stakeholders, understand their needs thoroughly, and translate these into clear, actionable requirements. Ensuring that all work aligns with Opencast’s high standards for quality, security, and environmental policies will be essential. This role involves weekly on-site work at client locations in Newcastle, Leeds, or Manchester, and requires the ability to travel as part of your daily commute. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering user-centric solutions that create lasting value and will have experience working on major transformation programs, preferably within the public sector, including government and NHS environments.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, particularly within large and complex organizations
  • Active Security Check (SC) clearance or eligibility and willingness to undergo the clearance process
  • Strong understanding of business analysis techniques such as SWOT analysis, 5 Whys, BPMN, wireframing, and data analysis
  • Experience defining epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements
  • Knowledge of business modeling, process improvement, and digital/data systems analysis
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and prioritize user experience needs, presenting insights effectively
  • Experience supporting testing activities, including defining scenarios and reviewing prototypes and test plans
  • Familiarity with GOV.UK Service Standards and passing service standard assessments (highly desirable)
  • Proven ability to work in Agile multidisciplinary teams and deliver projects on time and to high standards
  • Experience working in the public sector, especially in government or NHS projects (preferred)
  • Line management, coaching, or mentoring experience with junior analysts (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to analyze business needs and develop innovative solutions
  • Engage with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and validate requirements using various techniques
  • Translate business needs into detailed requirements, including epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Maintain traceability of requirements and facilitate prioritization within Agile frameworks
  • Conduct business modeling, process improvement, and systems analysis to identify gaps and recommend enhancements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and consensus
  • Support user experience analysis and present insights in accessible, data-informed formats
  • Define business scenarios and acceptance criteria to support testing and validation activities
  • Review prototypes, test plans, and outcomes to ensure solutions meet client and organizational standards
  • Ensure all work adheres to industry standards such as GOV.UK Service Standards and internal policies
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, validating process and system improvements
  • Present complex information clearly to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Lead or mentor junior business analysts, supporting their professional development
  • Manage client relationships, especially with senior stakeholders, balancing competing interests and priorities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within teams and across projects
  • Support business development efforts by providing insights and case studies for new opportunities
