About The Role
As a Business Analyst (Senior Consultant) at Opencast, you will bring extensive experience working within large, complex organizations. This role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams including product managers, software developers, user researchers, designers, and other specialists to solve challenging problems and deliver impactful solutions for our clients. You will be responsible for building strong relationships with client stakeholders, understanding their needs, and translating these into clear, actionable requirements. Your expertise will guide the development of business processes, systems, and digital solutions that align with strategic goals and industry standards. Ensuring the quality and security of all deliverables is vital, and you will be expected to adhere to Opencast’s high standards, including environmental and information security policies. The role requires weekly on-site work at various locations such as Newcastle, Leeds, or Manchester, with travel to client sites being an essential part of your responsibilities. You will also support testing activities, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within project teams.

Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in large, complex organizations
- Experience working with government, healthcare, or private sector clients is highly desirable
- Active Security Check (SC) clearance or eligibility and willingness to undergo the process
- Strong understanding of business analysis techniques such as SWOT, 5 Whys, BPMN, wireframing, and data analysis
- Knowledge of defining epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements
- Experience with business modeling, process improvement, and digital systems analysis
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience supporting testing activities, including defining scenarios and reviewing prototypes
- Familiarity with GOV.UK Service Standards and passing service standard assessments is a plus
- Proficiency in working within Agile methodologies and multidisciplinary teams
- Line management, coaching, or mentoring experience for junior analysts is advantageous
- Ability to travel and work on-site in locations such as Newcastle, Leeds, or Manchester
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and analyze business needs and processes
- Engage with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and validate requirements using appropriate techniques
- Define and document epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements
- Develop and maintain process models, data flows, and system representations to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
- Build strong relationships with client stakeholders, managing expectations and facilitating consensus
- Support testing activities by creating business scenarios, reviewing prototypes, and validating outcomes
- Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards, security policies, and industry frameworks
- Participate actively in Agile teams, contributing to project planning, delivery, and retrospectives
- Present complex information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Lead or mentor junior business analysts, supporting their development and workload management
- Manage multiple project workstreams, particularly within transformation programmes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, sharing best practices and lessons learned
- Support business analysis activities that align with GOV.UK Service Standards and other regulatory requirements
