The Role

You will play a critical role in the successful delivery of projects. You will be expected to take full ownership of business requirements - being fully responsible for identifying business SMEs, gathering requirements, specifying effective business processes, and supporting business case development or feasibility studies.

You will work collaboratively with the wider business, forming a bridge between business as usual and change teams, being agile in your approach, quick to learn and able to work through challenging problems.

Day-to-day you will have a huge amount of exposure and contact with key stakeholders from across the firm, including Directors, Senior Managers and Partners. You will therefore be required to be resilient, confident, and comfortable in your dealings with senior people, with a focus on building successful and productive working relationships, flexing your style as required. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work successfully with internal and external teams.

Duties And Responsibilities

In the context of the above job profile, successful candidates are expected to:

  • Identify key business SMEs and gather business requirements according to business needs and wants
  • Detail business requirements of the product and/or feature (e.g., facilitating journey mapping) in question
  • Compare and contrast existing and required capabilities, determine necessary analysis activities (e.g., user flows) to define practical solutions, assist with the creation of proof of concept, etc.
  • Standardise and optimise current processes to enable system deployments, new features, new legal products, value added services, etc.
  • Liaise with product owners and third-party suppliers to ensure business requirements are turned into technical specifications
  • Create test plans and develop test scripts where necessary, aligned to business requirements
  • Connect process efforts to other key initiatives to ensure broader strategic alignment and manage changes if/when needed
  • Understand stakeholder management techniques and interventions to foster adoption of new features and/or products
  • Analyse and manage requirements in collaboration with product managers through interviews, workshop facilitation, documentation, etc.
  • Support product/platform management with risk assessments and mitigation activities
  • Act as liaison with SMEs in the development of business requirements regarding process/workflow design components. Analyse and resolve escalated problems, coordinating associated activity through various areas while providing timely updates to stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot issues and engage appropriate support teams for resolution, and inform business leaders and product managers of status
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager or Project Lead on contribution to the delivery of the overall project within timeframe, meeting Project Milestones as required
  • Adopt best practices and tools for business analysis execution and ensure correct processes are followed
  • Create, amend, and maintain detailed analysis documentation
  • Build effective relationships with key and senior stakeholders across the business
  • Identify and understand the inter dependencies of the project and links to other projects within the Change Portfolio
  • Contribute to tracking lessons learned on the project to contribute to better project delivery and management.

Skills/Experience

  • 3-4+ years business analysis experience
  • Excellent knowledge of and competency in using a variety of business analysis tools
  • Experience of working with project stakeholders to understand objectives and needs and to negotiate consensus
  • Experience of negotiating timescales and resources with internal and external delivery teams.
