About Amber Lab

Amber Labs is a technology consultancy delivering secure, scalable, and user-centred digital solutions across the UK public sector. We partner with government organisations to solve complex challenges through digital transformation, helping modernise services that millions of people rely on every day.

Our multidisciplinary teams bring together expertise in delivery, engineering, cloud, data, and user-centred design to create innovative, high-quality solutions. We foster a collaborative, people-first culture where continuous learning, technical excellence, and career development are encouraged. Joining Amber Labs means working on meaningful projects that have a genuine impact while being part of a supportive team committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our growing team, supporting high-impact digital transformation programmes within the UK Central Government space.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage project environments, where shaping the problem is just as important as delivering the solution. You'll play a key role in understanding business needs, analysing existing processes, and helping design future-fit services that deliver real value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse current processes, systems, and integrations to understand existing business operations.
  • Elicit, define, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to capture needs, challenges, and desired outcomes.
  • Develop high-quality user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Produce process maps and supporting documentation to visualise current and future-state processes.
  • Conduct gap analysis and support solution design activities.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to bridge business and engineering perspectives.
  • Work within Agile delivery teams, participating in ceremonies and supporting iterative delivery.
  • Identify and document non-functional requirements (NFRs) alongside functional requirements.
  • Challenge assumptions and promote value-driven decision making rather than replicating legacy systems.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
